ARLISSA – ARTIST OF THE WEEK
Last night we hung out in Notting Hill Arts club’s, Black Cab Session gig with Roc Nation artist Arlissa. She is an absolute sweetie, speaking in teenage abbreviations and joking with her friends in between her airy rnb tracks. Other bands Paradise & Night Engine performed at the event.
We are totally psyched to introduce this fresh talent. The beautiful Arlissa is half German, half American and lucky for us, raised in South London! This girl can model on the catwalk let alone soundtrack one! You can adore her indie/tribal vibe, the sweet tracks are contrasting to the expected RnB route that we hear from Rihanna and Rita Ora. Arlissa offers euphoric melodies that are destined to shake up a new chart genre. Last year the 20 year old broke up with her boyfriend and released a track with Nas titled, “Hard To Love Somebody.” Her career kicked off and no doubt a dispute between her ex boyfriend who “used to” idolise Nas. Just like Adele, Arlissa put a “someone like you” stamp on a song. She wanted to encapsulate the tribulations of young love, and she had plenty of source material: “Everyone must have a time in their life when everything goes wrong,” she says “and that was mine.”
Roc Nation must keep this girl close to them, her unique tracks are bound to sway attention away from Rihanna and Rita. This youthful and quirky kid is about to turn heads and serenade ears. It won’t be the last time your hear about this sassy female.
