LULU GUINNESS PAINT PROJECT

In one of the most eclectic collaborations so far this year, accessories guru Lulu Guinness has teamed up with street artist Joseph Steele and creative art agency Beautiful Crime to create the Lulu Guinness Paint Project.

Our site proves fashion can be fused with almost anything, our interest is music. The art world is a big part of that too. The project, which aims to fuse together fashion and art, saw an artistic extravaganza take place at London’s Old Sorting Office on Thursday July 11, when controlled explosions of paint decorated three of Guinness’ clutch bags. These will be auctioned on eBay for charity, with the rest of the one-of-a-kind collection available to purchase in Lulu Guinness stores from the following day.

“I like a challenge, and exploring innovative new techniques, so Joe and I made the perfect partners in crime!” Guinness told us. “He is very experimental in his approach to art and he’s not afraid to push the boundaries when it comes to new techniques, much like my approach to handbags. I’ve not come across anyone who can use paint in such an impactful way.”

The creative process, uses Steele’s innovative technique whereby paint is exploded
across the canvas, in this case the bags themselves. The unpredictable and
spontaneous nature of the paint means everyone is entirely different to the next.

Each ‘Hug and Hold’ clutch comes in one of our AW13 colour block hues of black,
red or stone and is an authentic piece of artwork as well as a stylish clutch. Priced
at £295 and available in stores and online from 12th July, this limited edition bag is
perfect for carrying your iPad, purse and essential red lipstick in style.

Geordie singer Lulu James performed at the event. Check out her music………
