CHANEL COUTURE SS14 SHOW

Cara Delevingne is known for hating on the heels at fashion week, so Karl Largerfeld satisfied his muse and made the models strut in trainers! Largerfeld once again transformed the Grand Palais and perhaps took inspiration from Burberry’s Christopher Bailey by bringing live music to the runway.

The mood and ambience of the show seemed somewhat casual. Previous Chanel Haute Couture shows have taken place in a reconstructed area such as; jumbo jet, theatre, art gallery and a woodland setting.

Karl’s couture demographic may be slightly disheartened as this collections is young and minimal but he is forming closer relationships with stars such as Miley Cyrus, Rita Ora and Jennifer Lawrence. It could be further explained through the fashion soundtrack which was a contrast of old and new, an orchestra and a contemporary band.

We are enjoying the Chanel trainers that come in blush-pink tweed, silver metallic thread, or pale lemon mesh. As ever the hair and makeup was extremely theatrical. The show concluded with Cara looking like a Chanel bride accompanied by Karl’s godson Hudson, who has walked the runway before. Karl, Cara and Hudson made the picture perfect fashion family.

Karl reminded us of Steve Martin’s character in Father Of The Bride where he picks trainers for his daughters big day!
