UNTIL THE RIBBON BREAKS EP

British producer, singer, songwriter, DJ and visual artist Until The Ribbon Breaks (real name Peter Lawrie Winfield) has announced the release of his debut EP ‘A Taste Of Silver’ which will be available from 9th December on Universal’s Republic Records.

The EP, which is already available in the US, will be a free download available to anyone that signs up via the website www.untiltheribbonbreaks.com between now and December and will be sent out to registered fans on 9th December.

From a golden era when the mix-tape once reigned supreme, Until The Ribbon Breaks (UTRB) embraces an old school passion for cleverly weaving together sounds, samples and lyrics.  Bursting with big beats, gritty synths, delicate lyricism and multiple layers, all fused together under a blanket of cinematic imagery. For every track there is a self-made video created by the artist, who originally studied film.

UTRB has also revealed his new official video for lead single ‘Pressure’, a David Lynch inspired epic which can be seen below.

The EP also features ‘2025’ with its powerful apocalyptic undertones and imagery, plus ‘Perspective ft. Homeboy Sandman’, ‘Romeo’ and ‘Back To The Stars’.  Remixes of the tracks come from TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek, Burns, ViLLΛGE, Ta-Ku and Holy Other.

Besides creating his own music, UTRB has caused a frenzy amongst the blogosphere with his remixes or ‘reimaginations’ for The Weeknd’s ‘Wicked Games’ and Lorde’s ‘Royals’, and there is more still to come for both Sam Smith and Angel Haze. He has also featured on a track with EL-P and Killer Mike on their new album Run The Jewels, and has performed live with them at Webster Hall, NY.

With firm backing in the UK so far from DJs such as Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens at Radio1 and in the US from blogs and sites such as Pitchfork, SPIN, Interview Magazine and Fader to name a few, Until The Ribbon Breaks could well be the next man to occupy all our musical obsessions.

UTRB embarked on an 8-date sell out tour earlier this month with New Zealand female solo artist Lorde and will be heading out on tour with Phantogram in the US in December.

Until The Ribbon Breaks is currently working on his debut album with a release likely to come in early 2014 and he is an artist to watch out for next year.
